Luckily, some extremely powerful weapons exist among these starter guns, like the long-range monster that is the MCPR-300 – one of the best sniper rifles in Modern Warfare 2.

If you want to drop dozens of players from all over the map, there’s no better choice than the MCPR-300, and with the right selection of attachments, killing becomes frighteningly easy. Ed recently talked to Liam about his favorite thing about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign.

Better MCPR-300 loadout in Modern Warfare 2

Unusually for accessory setups in Modern Warfare 2, for this MCPR-300 loadout we neglected to add a Barrel accessory. Instead, we found a way to dramatically extend its effective range and ball speed, while keeping it snappy and fast for the odd quickscope and follow-up shot.

Here is the best MCPR-300 loadout in Modern Warfare 2:

  • Recipient: MCPR-300
  • Muzzle: Nilsound 90
  • Laser: Laser FSS OLE-V
  • Magazine: Mag 5 shots
  • Rear handle: Cronen Cheetah Handle
  • Lock: Cronen smooth bolt

Due to a bug, the Nilsound 90 Muzzle in the Gunsmith does not list any advantages or disadvantages; but after testing we found it greatly extended the range and bullet velocity of the MCPR-300, making it extremely easy to land those long range shots. And, of course, that silences the gun to boot. Win win!

The Nilsound is obviously very heavy, so all other accessories are designed to speed up the MCPR-300 as much as possible. The OLE-V FSS-Laser and Cronen Cheetah Grip increase your ADS and Sprint-To-Fire speeds – just like the 5 round magazinewhich we think was well worth the sacrifice of 5 more rounds before reloading.

Finally, we opted for the Cronen smooth bolt, allowing you to rechamber bullets faster, resulting in significantly faster follow-up shots. It might take a few minutes to get used to the extra kick, but it’s worth it for the extra speed.

Best secondary weapon

Obviously, the ideal counterpart for a long-range rifle like the MCPR-300 is something that can comfortably win close combat. For this function we recommend the Lachmann Sub (also known as MP5). It’s a nippy SMG – one of the best SMGs in Modern Warfare 2, in fact – with very competitive DPS and TTK, and will serve to protect you from enemies who get too close. Find out how to best equip it with our guide to the best MP5 loadout in Modern Warfare 2.

Best perks and amenities

Aside from the Overkill perk, which is necessary if you want to use a primary weapon with your MCPR-300, the best base perk for this class build would be either Double Time, allowing you to reposition faster; or Bomb Squad, to help you stay alive when the enemy team starts bombarding your sniper nest with frag grenades.

As for bonus and ultimate perks, we recommend using Cold-Blooded, to keep you clear of enemy radar and high alert warnings; and Bird’s Eye, which expands your mini-map and gives you better knowledge of the enemy’s location so you can shoot them more easily.

Finally, pick up a good old-fashioned frag grenade for an all-purpose lethal explosive weapon, then grab a stun grenade to toss into the enemy front line and hopefully score a few easy snipes on stunned targets.

That concludes this walkthrough on how to set up the best possible MCPR-300 loadout in Modern Warfare 2.
