The Vanguard M1 Garand quickly became Warzone’s “best sniper rifle” after its main Season 5 buff, with expert WhosImmortal describing its favorite pre-Warzone 2 build.
Warzone Season 5 has already been confirmed by Activision and Raven as the final season in the battle royale life cycle.
As a result, players settle into Season 5 and determine which guns dominate ahead of BR’s sequel and Modern Warfare 2.
One of them is the M1 Garand, the classic CoD rifle that received a surprise buff with Season 5. The update reduced its flinch by 33%, increased its muzzle velocity by over 13%, and strengthened a multitude of weapon accessories. As a result, some have compared it to the once infamous DMR.
While its Vanguard iteration has generally struggled to impact the meta in any capacity, it’s now one of the most popular weapons in the game and, according to a Warzone expert, the best rifle in game sniper.
Buffed M1 Garand is now the best sniper rifle in Warzone
In a September 9 video, who is immortal outlined his picks for the best meta weapons in each category after the Season 5 changes.
First place in the sniper rifle category was the semi-automatic Vanguard AR, with the YouTuber saying, “The M1 Garand is the way to go. This is a newly upgraded sniper rifle that honestly is very very solid for players who can use it properly… the damage dealt here is honestly better than most rifles. The TTK when landing shots regularly is hyper-competitive.
Naturally, the semi-automatic nature of the M1 Garand will deter some players from using it. Semi-automatic weapons are inherently more difficult to use and punish players more for missed shots.
However, experienced and confident players will only benefit from using the Power Rifle, especially with the build recommended by WhosImmortal:
- Muzzle: MX silencer
- Barrel: CGC Ironsides
- Optical: G16 2.5x
- Store: CGC G2 Padded
- Sub-barrel: Carver Handguard
- Magazine: 6.5 Sakura Round Drums 40
- Ammunition: Elongate
- Rear handle: rubber grip
- Advantage : Hardscope
- Advantage 2: At hand
The class, unsurprisingly, seeks to maximize ball control and speed at the expense of maneuverability and speed (both of which are pretty poor on the M1 Garand anyway).
Due to its specialty being medium and long ranges, players will need to show up with a close range SMG in their back pocket. Currently, there is no better option than the PPSh-41 or the Armaguerra 43, both of which dominate the pick rates in Season 5.
Pair one of these with the M1 Garand and players will be well on their way to earning those all-important kills.
