Modern Warfare 2 will give players plenty of weapon customization options by offering a twist on the classic Call of Duty Gunsmith system with some new features.
Every year the Call of Duty developers try to give players more weapon customization when it comes to multiplayer gameplay, and Modern Warfare 2 is no different.
While most Call of Duty fans will be familiar with the Gunsmith system that encourages players to unlock and equip attachments to their weapons, there will be some new Create-A-Class features to get used to in Modern Warfare. 2.
The Gunsmith system is an essential aspect of multiplayer success as it allows weapons to undergo drastic changes in an instant. Here’s everything you need to know about Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith.
Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith Explained
In Modern Warfare 2, players can expect a wider range of attachment types than ever before. This means players will have more tools to adjust the feel of weapons in-game. This added depth is meant to increase your control over the gameplay experience by shaping the weapon to suit different playstyles.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s expected that every weapon in Modern Warfare 2 will arrive with plenty of unlockable attachments. A definitive number of attachments is unconfirmed. This is only the first indication of how much control players will have over customization through the Gunsmith.
Another key detail that has yet to be confirmed is the number of attachments players will be able to equip per weapon. While we don’t have an exact number to share at this time, it should be less than Vanguard’s total of ten.
Attachment Tuning Feature Coming to Modern Warfare 2
The most drastic change to Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith is the ability to tune weapon attachments. As most CoD players already know, weapon attachments give advantages and disadvantages to the weapon to alter its in-game feel.
For the first time in Call of Duty history, players will be able to adjust the characteristics of attachments to best suit their needs. For example, if a standard Stock attachment adds movement speed and reduces recoil control, you will be able to adjust the amount by which movement speed is increased and recoil control is decreased via the attachment’s tuning.
This feature will only be available for weapons that reach a certain level, which means you will need to master the weapon to access this feature. This is not the time to make weapons overpowered, because increasing a characteristic significantly will result in a corresponding negative.
Players will always have to respect a balance between pros and cons, but they will be free to decide where this balance lies.
Modern Warfare 2 Default Loadout Types
Infinity Ward have decided to do things a little differently this year when it comes to default loadouts. While default loadouts won’t retain their prominence throughout the game, they’ll be an integral part of the early hours of Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2’s default loadouts were designed with three playstyles in mind: Rusher, Sentineland stalker. Each behavior type will have two corresponding default loadouts, for a total of six.
Rusher loadouts will suit players who are constantly looking for action with aggressive gameplay. Sentinel loadouts are for stationary players who value their in-game life above all else. Finally, Stalker loadouts are for players who think before they act and observe their surroundings, these players are also interested in the objective.
